I was looking for an ALL BLACK dive watch and this fit the bill perfectly and at $230 it is a great valve. It looks great and is a Seiko Superior (which means a little better fit and finish than the normall Seiko brand (Seiko 5's for example).This is essentially a Black Stainless Steel version of the legendary Seiko Monster, the main difference being the Starfish bezel and PVD coating. If you look at the movement, demensions, dial, and bracellet, it is exactly like the Seiko Monster that so many have come to love for it style, heft, durablity and value. It has a Precise 23-jewel Japanese-automatic movement (Caliber: 7S36). Since it is an automatic movement (mechanical watch) it doesn't require any battery, but you must wear it to cause the internal rotor to wind the drive mechanism. The watch will go appoximately 40-hours on a full change (ie. putting it on a watch winder overnight). Wearing the watch daily will keep the watch at approximately 70%... The pictures don't do it justice. The fit, finish and materials are top notch. The design is a departure from most Seiko divers. It looks unique and stylish and yet it is extremely functional.I recently took a tour inside the retired U.S. Navy submarine Blueback and was impressed with the way the hardware on that sub was beautifully machined and extremely heavy duty. This watch reminds me of that; it is totally overbuilt as if it were designed to survive a depth charge attack! I love the watch, it's big and hefty, it looks so cool IMO. There have been no problems with it running. I saw the one review that said his stopped after a week but mine is going strong. I compared it to A satalite clock and it lost 3 seconds over 24 hours whuch is ok. I don't wear it to work as I am a carpenter and don't want to trash it, so I have to reset the time and date often. My wife paid $220 or $230, not the $600 that is shown, if you like it keep looking on Amazon there's another one for what I paid. It feels great on my wrist too, it has good weight which I like. |
