This model fits the bill without overloading the device with a ton of unused and hard to learn features. While it does tell me the tide and phases of the moon for surfing purposes, it does not overwhelm the main timekeeping purpose.Aesthetically, I enjoy the red band and matching case. This is the main reason this particular model was chosen. The LCD is crisp and I have no problems reading it in bright daylight or at night with the help of the automated "flick on" light feature. This is such an overall great device that both my 11 and 13 year old sons are saving their money in order to purchase their own G-Shock so that they can stop "borrowing "mine from my gym bag.
